Screen-shot from grackledocs websiteStartup developer GrackleDocs has posted a beta of its new PDF/UA conversion plugin for Google Docs.

GrackleDocs has launched a free accessibility checker for Google Docs. To generate revenue, an optional paid add-on PDF/UA conversion utility will soon allow, they say, the user to create tagged PDF documents, including PDF/UA-conforming files, from Google Docs.

The GrackleDocs interactive accessibility checker blends requirements from several sources, and allows the user to check the document's reading order, the use of alternate text for images, and several other attributes.

The PDF/UA converter is in beta now; those interested may test it after providing an email address.

According to Paul Walker, Co-Founder of GrackleDocs, "PDF/UA output will be ready by the end of April."
